Three couples mapped flavor preferences from base spirits to aged pours, ending with confident premium choices.

In Breckenridge, a private group of three couples wanted a guided tasting experience that deepened their appreciation for spirits without feeling instructional or intimidating.
We designed a blind tasting that started with foundational base spirits and progressed to aged expressions, all curated to each couple’s emerging taste profile. By focusing on discovery and connection, the experience turned quiet curiosity into confident, shared decisions, and premium selections that felt personal, not pressured.
Objective
Create shared confidence so couples naturally select higher‑tier spirits they truly enjoy.
Setup
Venue fit: Cozy living-room setting in Breckenridge, ideal for relaxed conversation and exploration.
Flight design: Progressive tasting, beginning with key base spirits, moving to aged expressions tailored to each couple’s revealed preferences.
Menu cues: Minimalist tasting cards featuring one clear descriptor per pour to anchor discussion.
Tools: Water, light palate cleansers, and simple reveal cards to connect each note to the aged version.
Flow
Welcome & framing: Guests are introduced to the concept — “find your note” — and the idea of blind tasting to unlock unbiased preferences.
Blind baseline: Each couple tastes the first round of base spirits with one guiding cue per pour.
Compare & name: Couples discuss and agree on a favorite note, revealing personal and shared preferences.
Reveal & connect: The chosen note is linked to an aged expression that builds on the same flavor foundation.
Bridge to premium: Couples are invited to enjoy a premium neat pour or a signature cocktail designed around their shared note.
Impact
Confidence: Couples could articulate their flavor preferences clearly, reducing hesitation when selecting premium pours.
Check average: Natural upgrade behavior led to higher-tier selections across whiskey categories.
Engagement: Relaxed pacing encouraged longer, more meaningful conversation and memory-making.
Proof of Impact
When each partner can name a shared favorite note, premium feels earned, not sold. The choice becomes a shared discovery, a story and a moment, rather than a transaction.
